Rehoboth Beach is a quiet town in winter, but in summer hosts tens of thousands of visitors from neighboring states and, as the town's welcome sign implies, most of Washington DC comes here too.
The beach, photographed out of season or very early in the morning.
Watch towers still stand at nearby Cape Henlopen State Park, a reminder of past world wars.
These posts act to keep swimmers from the dangers of a grounded ship, part of which becomes visible when the ocean moves the sand.
A full moon rises over the Atlantic and shines over the deserted midnight beach and boardwalk.
Waves crash onto the jetties as another hot and busy summer day begins.
As the sun sets, vacationers take to walking the boardwalk, streets, stores, amusements, arcades, and restaurants, leaving the beach quiet.
On rainy days like these, the boardwalk is empty and everyone heads to the movies and the outlet stores.
Route 1 is the road to Rehoboth and the Delmarva coastline, as well as the Rehoboth Outlets. Delaware is a tax-free state, so the outlet stores are very popular.
