Fun on the Beach

This group photos shows how Funlanders spend much of their free-time: laying on the beach in the hot summer sun.

Funland can be seen in the back and the beach itself is rather empty so it must have been quite late in the summer or after Labor Day (the first Monday in September - a holiday and the end of the summer, after which many resorts close or at least shorten their opening times).

This is Ashley, a student at university somewhere in Louisiana (if I remember correctly).

Her summer job was working at this beach hut in front of Funland, renting chairs, umbrellas, and boogie-boards.

You can place your umbrellas and settle anywhere on the beach, unlike most European beaches where set rows of beds cover the beach.

Below is Natalie, looking out over the ocean on a day
late in September when the beach is pleasantly empty.

Here's Natalie. Funland dorm guys' dining/living room overlooks the boardwalk and the beach.

Natalie seemed much happier laying in my kayak on the beach than having to make the effort involved in taking it out on the ocean.

I recorded 80 minutes of video footage myself this summer which I will edit and add to the site as soon as I get a digital recording on disk from Tomáš, who's had the cassette for almost three years now.
