Having just flown to Koh Samui, I took a speedboat over to Koh Pha Ngan.

2 of 15 - Pre Party Drinks

We had a few drinks on the pation of one of the bungalows we'd rented for the night before going down to the beach. 

3 of 15 - Fortune Teller 

This guy was a bit suersticious, to say the least.

He was covered in tatoos that looked like they'd been designed using Excel.

4 of 15 - My Fortune 

I told him when I was born, exact to the day of the week, and a few other details and he wrote some numbers, did some maths and told me my fortune.

It's not good. I got the impression he was implying I wouldn't see my thirtieth birthday, warning that I should be careful in and around road traffic.

The Thais I was with were very friendly and I practiced some Thai on them, as they did English on me.

I've no idea where this boy came from. It was easier not to ask questions at times, rather than endure a painfully hard-to-understand answer.

Chang is the slightly cheapest of Thailand's two biggest beers, I don't remember the name of the other one.

We found a spot on the beach and began to get into the party mood.

I think this couple were British, but I really can't be sure.

Anyway, they're just some of the many friendly people I ran into on the beach that night.

Many people left the crowded island the next morning, taking boats to Koh Samui before continuing their journeys.
