Koh Poda

Koh Poda is just off the mainland and can be reached by long-tail boat from the Krabi/Ao Nang areas.

I spent a day on the quiet island, where few others bother to visit as there is nothing there to see or do but lay on the beach.

However, I found some things to keep me amused, as these photos show.

This photo is of the beach on the island, with the mainland in the distance.

I also found this coconut lying around and spent quite some time getting it out of it's shell, before even thinking how I might open it.

Those rocks came in useful in opening that coconut, which had to go to waste as I only liked the milk.

Where there's a will, there's a way.

I managed to make a couple of holes in it and drink that milk.

Here's my boat waiting to take me back to the mainland at the end of the afternoon.

I took very little with me and dragged this piece of driftwood from the woods to act as my sunbed for the day.

It was actually quite comfortable and much easier than having a wet and sandy towel.

My waterproof digital camera passed the test.

This bamboo raft was the outcome of my boredom - 100% made by my own hands from pieces of bamboo and tied together with lianas (I think that's what they're called).

One of the main bamboo shafts turned-out to be rotted on the inside and these photos were taken before the whole thing fell apart.

I found this swing and propped my camera on a rock to get this photo, which has a couple more islands in the background.
