Korea International Formula 3 Super Prix

The F3 race is the last in a number of races that take place on Changwon's circuit on a weekend in November.

Here are the cars on the grid, ready to go.

Interestingly, the buildings in the background are those of Changwon College, where I'd soon be working.

(Note: These are the last photos I took before going digital. I don't know exactly why, but they're of the poorest quality!)

Below are a few photos taken as the Korean GT1/GT2/T-A race took place.

2004 UPDATE: Following huge spectator turnout, complaints about the noise by local residents and Gyeongnam provincial government not funding the F3 racing anymore, Changwon's racing track is now unused all year round. Where's the sense in this city?

The US's Richard Antinucci won the race and is pictured here on the podium with his silverware.

Much of the track winds around the city's sports complex including the basketball stadium, velodrome, swimming pool and the main field and track stadium (left).

After going around the swimming pool's oval dome-shaped building, there's a series of bends that prove quite challenging for some.

The racers then progress out of the stadium complex onto a long and straight road back toward the grid and the next lap.

This is the first bend in the track, just off the grid at the pit exit.

They pass under a footbridge (where this photo was taken) and then speed up down the straight shown below.

And they're off...
