Here's myself standing outside my apartment in Kalloni, in the center of the island of Lesvos.
I'm holding Alkis, a Yorkshire Terrier that belongs to my neighbors.
Here's the view from my apartment. Irini, my neighbor, student and landlord's daughter goes for the groceries every day, taking Alkis in the basket.
Here's Irini again, this time in my kitchen.
Notice all the cards I've been sent. Thank you very much to that special person in the US that helped keep me sane
for five months.
Greece's equivalent of July 4th. I can't remember when it is, but the army and all the students in town parade
down the high street.
Below: Here's Eleni (on the right) passing in the town's band.
Despite being in the center of the island, Kalloni has a beach nearby at Skala Kalloni, on the shores of the Gulf of Kalloni.
The small harbor at Skala Kalloni is busy year-round with fishermen, and bustling with tourists in summer.
The beach is cleaned for the summer then covered with sun beds and sun-umbrellas. The bars and restaurants re-open and the area fills with people.
