January 2004 Aled's Internet Guide
Someone recently asked me how I continue to keep
myself entertained
online, when he finds himself running out of sites to
visit.
I
very rarely watch TV, in fact it's been at least a couple
of months since the last time I sat in front of one.
With
a high-speed broadband Internet connection, why would I?
All
the comedy, drama, adventure, crime and other ingredients
of a long-running TV show or a blockbuster film are present
in everyday life around the globe.
Unless
I'm looking for anything specific, I almost always
begin with BBC News.
A
link from a story to a related site will often begin
me on a long and informative, sometimes interactive
and often
fun, journey into the depths of the world
wide
web.
As I educate myself and pick-up the odd idea that I might adopt
in my own site, I listen to one of my favourite radio stations.
At the moment, I have stations from ten countries on my Favourites
list.
I
could be anywhere in the world while sitting in the
comfort of my Korean apartment.
And
then of course, there's files-sharing.
Music
and movies are often available before their release
dates and episodes of most US sitcoms are just a few
minutes' downloading time from my screen.
Porn
is another thing worth mentioning, but the mention
alone should suffice (though I could let you in on
some great information there!) -
